memorize earth ("the Site," "we," "us," "our") is a free browser-based geography trainer. this privacy policy explains what information we handle when you use the Site. we designed the Site to collect as little personal information as possible.
1. who we are
the Site is operated by Virtually Funny, Inc. and served from a global edge CDN at memorizeearth.com. for any privacy questions, contact contact@memorizeearth.com.
2. information we handle
2.1 gameplay data stored in your browser
the Site stores your gameplay progress (which questions you've answered, your settings, your category preferences, and similar) in your browser's localStorage. this data stays on your device. we do not collect it, do not transmit it to our servers, and cannot read it. clearing your browser's site data for memorize earth removes it.
2.2 standard server logs (via our hosting provider)
like every website, the Site receives standard web request data when you load a page (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp). these logs are handled by our hosting / CDN provider on our behalf, and used for security and abuse prevention.
we do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, account credentials, payment information, or any other personally identifying information from visitors. the Site has no user accounts.
3. cookies and similar technologies
the Site itself does not set first-party tracking cookies. we use your browser's localStorage only to save your gameplay progress on your device, as described in section 2.1. the Site does not run third-party advertising. no ad-network cookies are set by the Site.
4. third-party services
4.1 hosting / CDN provider
the Site runs on a third-party edge platform. that provider processes request data (IPs, user agents, timestamps) on our behalf for delivery, security, and abuse prevention, as described in section 2.2.
4.2 paypal (optional donations)
the Site offers an optional donation link that, when clicked, opens a payment page hosted by PayPal in a new tab. if you choose to donate, PayPal processes the transaction directly. we never see, handle, or store your payment information. PayPal's data practices are governed by their own privacy statement.
4.3 youtube (about page video)
the about page embeds a video via YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com). when the player loads, Google receives your IP address and user agent. see Google's privacy policy for details.
5. children's privacy
the Site is suitable for general audiences. we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. if you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us through any third-party service, please contact contact@memorizeearth.com. we do not target advertising to children.
6. your choices
- clear your local progress. use the "Forget Everything" button on the main board, or clear your browser's site data for memorize earth. either removes all gameplay data from your device.
- browser controls. most browsers let you block cookies, clear local storage, and enable "Do Not Track." we honor browser-level controls. the Site's core functionality may be limited if local storage is blocked.
7. data security
all traffic between your browser and the Site is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). because the Site does not collect or store personal information about visitors, there is no personal data on our end that could be exposed by a security incident.
8. international transfers
the Site is operated from the United States. our edge CDN processes traffic globally across its network. if you use the Site from outside the U.S., your request data will be processed in jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your own.
9. your rights (EEA, UK, California, and other jurisdictions)
depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information about you. because the Site does not collect personal information from visitors (gameplay data stays in your browser. see section 2.1), there is generally nothing on our end for us to access or delete on your behalf. for any other privacy request, contact contact@memorizeearth.com.
10. changes to this policy
we may update this privacy policy from time to time. material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date at the top. continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance.
